I mean miss as in not score and fail to progress. Credit where credits due to ricardo. I'll buy him a whisky and a big fat cigar if I ever see him in Scotland.

Pattern: three wonderful saves by Ricardo. Why do you say England miss and not Ricardo saves. Aren't goalkeepers players too? Can't they make a difference in a game just like a good striker?

I don't understand your calculations. I don't recall England missing any penalties in 2002. In 2004, England missed three penalties I think (Beckham v France and Portugal and Vassell v Portugal). In 2006, England missed three penalties in Saturday's shoot-out.

England did not miss the penalties they were saved. Portugal guys missed.

You know Missed...... did not hit, went past, not on target,

Its no shame to have a goal saved that's what the goalkeeper is payed for. to miss the big wide open goal that's embarrassing

Was obvious that the lad that plays for a german side wasnt going to miss. Must be the way they get taught to take them and we dont i suppose. Watching the germans shootout win over the argies, you never got the impression that they would miss. England was a somewhat different proposition sadly.

Maybe we should play 2 strikers and maybe score during the match? Then we don't have to lose on penalties.
