Acrylic is not toxic. But as that poster said, it does scratch easily. Also, if you add certain medications, it may stain.
Try looking on your local craigslist (www.craigslist.org and pick your state and location from the right side of your screen) or looking into your local freecycle group (www.freecycle.org). You can get tanks and sometimes even complete set-ups for free or very cheap.
Happy hunting!

If acrylic was toxic then I'm pretty sure tanks wouldn't be made of it.
Look around in some petstores, if you don't see any then ask someone who works there. Maybe they can order one for you or tell you of a place locally that has them.

petco does not have bad advice. honestly its the people that work there that make teh difference. i work at petco and jenny our fish specialist knows anything and everything. shes great. i went to petsmart and i had a fish guy tell me that i could use one gal per one inch of GOLDFISH. i was like no loser. its for tropical fish . goldfish need ten gallons apiece. and there was a sign behind him saying that. what a loser. sometiimes they hire poeple that dont actually know. to be certain. privately owned fish stores are wonderful places to get information. i actually got an acrylic tank from wal-mart. they have special scr4ub pads for arcrylic. make sure you use thoes. glass is easier to clean bc the top isnt fused on. but thats aiight :)

Go to www.glasscages.com I went there to get my acrylic tank. You can call them, give them the dimensions that you want and they custom make it for you. They also deliver if there is a reptile show in your area. Check em out, I have a tank by them and it is great.

Just go to a pet store, petsmart and petco have great prices, but bad advice. Try looking in the phonebook for a good local store (infinatly better than most chains)
