It actually depends on whether the bar fell or he was hit by it. The two actions are different but the grammer in either case is correct. Also, you do not need to hyphenate steel bar. I hope this helps.

He was hit on the head by a steel-bar. Although I do not know what the word steel-bar means. Do you mean bar-stoel - that is these high seats you find in a bar. They can be very heavvy.

Both are correct, except that steel bar should not have hyphen and he was hit on the head, not in the head.

A steel bar fell on his head. There is no hyphen in steel bar.

the second one is incorrect

It should be-- He was hit on the head with a steel bar.

this isn't exactly a question and you should say on not in. Steel bar doesn't need a hyphen only a space i believe.

So the first one is right. ?no?

Both are correct unless there's more information in context such as someone swung the steel bar at him deliberately. Steel bar is not hyphenated. (Would you hyphenate red hammer?) And I would say hit 'on the head,' not 'in the head.'

It hink it depends where you live. In order to have been hit by the bar, the bar has to have fallen, the person has to have run into it, or deliberately hit with head. So, with that reasoning, I'd say the bar fell on his head.

Both formulations are essentially the same thing and are correct, although the second would be better as "...hit ON the head..."

It depends on whether you want "him" or "the steel bar" to be the subject of your sentance.

Either one is correct; it just depends on how you wish to construct the sentence. To me, the first choice is better-stated.
