They are the most comfortable things to wear in the summer. If I want to wear them anywhere, what's wrong with that?

Because a tube-top or a moo-moo are also extremely comfortable, but no sane person would ever wear those in public. Come to think of it, I would like to walk around in my bear slippers and robe all day - but don't think that my students would appreciate that very much.
Part of being an adult is learning how to play the role. Flip-flops are comfortable, but childish. Save them for the mall or beach.

I wouldn't know why anybody would be offended by them unless you are in a nice restaurant or country club or something. My opinion is that if you are going to wear them then you should find some that are comfy and dressy. I have some that are just plain jane that I wear around the house or to the grocery store and some that are beaded that I wear with skirts and such.

I like them...but they are too casual for some places. Lots of women are now wearing them to church, which is in very poor taste. Save the flip-flops for the beach or even the mall, and NEVER wear them to work.

Because some people don't pick up their feet when they walk, and all you hear is that annoying rubber sliding across the pavement as they approach.
I'm wearing flip flops right now.

Who are these offended people? They must be stopped! Flip Flops are practically the cornerstone of a summer worth living!!! I wear mine with my head held high! :-)

I don't see anything wrong with wearing flip flops if it is at appropiate places. You certainly wouldn't want to be all dressed up and have your bare toes showing. Some people wear dirty flip flops with dirty feet!!! Gross!!!

why are some people offended with flip flops?..hahaha what wrong with that cute and trendy style flip flops...even me..made those cutie,affordable and trendy flip flops....i sold it for only 80 pesos the flat ones and 180 if there's a heels.....so nothing to be offended with that....

They are a lazy persons alibi. There once was a time when people actually put on decent-looking clothes. Nowadays, it's easier to look sloppy in jean cutoffs and flops than to put on decent clothes.
Just because this junky apparel crap shows up in your newspaper in the Fashion page doesn't mean it looks good.
