I was online chating and someone sent me a text asking me if my disc drive just opened up, and true enough as i looked down it was open. then I was just about to do a virus scan and the person texted me saying "no need to run a virus scan you already have a virus" He wanted me to flash him on my webcam and he would remove the virus. He could see everthing that was on my screen. Have this happened to anyone and if so how was he able to do this?

that has never happened to me. whenever you think your computer's security has been compromised, you should just disconnect immediately. run anti-virus programs without being connected online. that would make it impossible for a hacker to hijack your computer.

He wanted to you to flash in order to remove the virus? Wow, what a loser.

you need to unplug your wed cam that how he could see what was happening he must have some kind of program so i would unplug it do a virus scan go in to control panel then go in to remove or add program then when you see yahoo reamove it all
yahoo remove every thing from yahoo then go and re down load yahoo and get a new yahoo id and just give it to your friend and stay off the cam for a while

It is an IM virus. You should ignore the person and block them from your YIM list if possible. I don't think this worm is very harmful though (I'm not sure about this, you might have to check the anti-virus websites. Try http://vil.nai.com -- It's the McAfee Virus Response Center)
If I remember correctly this kind of thing with the webcam and stuff is usually used by stalkers. Be careful.

Everyone doesn't want a virus so he thinks he is clever enough to say "blah blah" and get to see some titties. Don't do it, cuz then you would be stupid to give some old perverted waxed out loser a free flash.

It has not , however; if he can open your driver, he has gotten your number and can get any sensitive information you may have anywhere in your computer. That means you should notify police or proper authority asap.. This guy is not just a pervert, which is bad enuf, but he is a criminal and needs to be arrested.. you may want to notify yahoo also, may be they can track him

it isn't a virus, it is just a hacking trick. the easiest thing to do is to just unplug the network/phone line from your computer, and then run you scans.

That's frightening! I certainly wouldn't have complied to his blackmail demand. Some good suggestions here on fixing the problem.
