In a sense answering this is a moral dilemma.
My first instinct was to pass. but
Than I thought about it and decided to take a shot at answering it
. Ok, here goes..
Does crack kill?
Plain and simply,..generally speaking, NO,..(barring an allergy) it doesn't.
Abuse kills..
Off-hand, the only thing I can think to compare crack smoking to- is, to smoking condensed sugar.
(Not to unlike cooking down a chocolate bar and smoking it.)
And, crack, ironically ,is not to unlike a severe case of a chocolate addiction. Being a mental more than physical addition.
Again, abuse kills. And here's the thing. To pick up a pipe to smoke what amounts to being something somebody, to make a buck, cuts it with only God knows what, cooks it up in their kitchen or basement with absolutely no idea of what their doing, their only concerns being profit, not being arrested and finding some fool to buy it.
You wake up one morning realizing, a little at a time, it stole your life, your family, your friends and everything you own.
But it didn't kill you, just everything you wanted or hoped for.

It can explode your heart like it did to a friend of mine many yrs ago. His brother found him as a John Doe in a morgue in NYC after searching for 2 weeks. Do you want to put your family through that?
