That particular light is timer based. You'll have to have a mechanic reset the timer and it will turn off the light. However, if it is coming on frequently, i. e. you've had it reset before and it came on again, you might want to have your control module looked at. If it just came on go get it inspected. Those lights are there to keep your regular maintenance on track.

Take it to a Jiffy Lube. They have the reset tool. I have a 91 525I and that's where I go when the time for a reset comes.

think you have to take it into garage .ita a special tool they use to reset it
