When men wear womens clothes they're called transvestites but when women wear mans clothes, it's called Fashion??? Should men get so much stick for it?

I look at the choices of clothes for men and i find them quite boring. Mens clothing tends to appear to be practical with a bit of fashion and style where as womens clothes seem to be reverse.

The choices for womens fashion seems to be three times as big.
I think the problems with men wearing female clothing is to do with our history, sterio typing, insecurities, media.Originally when women started wearing trousers, they had a male cut, so they sometimes looked odd or made the woman look like she was trying to be butch. But now if you look at any woman in a suit, its talored to fit the female figure.

Generally i guess male clothing afirms masculinity, whereas female clothing ... femininity.. wether intended or not.

I dont think men should get stick for dressing in feminine clothing, but still in this day and age you can get beaten up,threatened, or have stuff done to your home- property etc just for wearing womens clothes. YOu can even loose freinds,family,wife/girlfreinds etc....
Or at least have the piss taken out of you by men/women for wearing an item(s) of clothing that looks like/ is clothing for women.
I cant imagine a day when a guy- dressed as a guy could go into a woman's clothes(newlook/BHS/Asda/tesco) shop to try on a item of clothing- say a blouse/top/jeans/skirt.... although it would be interesting to see if he gets banned .

There have always been double standards. When guys have sex with multiple women, they're "studs"...when women do it, they're "sluts". Personally, much of women's fashion isn't all that comfortable or practical so I don't understand much why guys would WANT to wear it...however man-skirts (similar to kilts) are becoming acceptable in some larger cities and something like that (cooler, not binding) I can see as a clothing item a guy might prefer if he were not too embarrassed to wear it.

Guys don't generally want to look feminine, it's not the male way...however women can take men's fashion and tweak it to where we still look feminine in trousers or a jacket, or in jeans and a button-up top. Girls continue to look like girls when wearing mens fashion, moreso than men continue looking like men when wearing women's.

Whatever women do, there is a high level of mystique, and thrill in it. It might even be s - e - x - y and sell more sodas!

Men do the weird, the stange, the impossible, as a matter of their gender, and because they are testosterone driven...

So, if a woman does it, the world notices, applauds, and buys more soda.

Men just get to live another day, 92% of the time, to try another stupid stunt. We typically don't broadcast the failures...

i've asked myself the same thing a few years ago. that's because trousers fit both men and women, but skirts are never made for men (unless you're attending a jean-paul gaultier fashion show). that's why it looks unnatural.
if a guy is really skinny and slender (boyish-looking), he can wear women's jeans and t-shirts, i think that looks cool.

Because we are born to suffer... It is our lot in life to have to follow convention...

Remember, in the work place... Men have to wear shirts and ties... Whereas women can wear pretty much anything... Is that fair???

Probably not :)

Women have more permission and latitude in many areas including relationships, clothing, activities.

Men are learning when they sample women's clothes, it probably improves their relationships.
