Well, my opinion would have to be:
1.) Tell the potential father, along with both sets of parents & family.
2.) Schedule an appointment w/ a doctor as soon as possible. You will need prenatel vitimans among other things from a doctor.
3.) Stop all drinking/smoking/drugs/caffeine
4.) Enjoy eating all you can, you are now feeding two. Make healthy choices in what goes in your mouth, babies need healthy foods.
5.) Start preparing your life for the changes that will come with having a baby, financially, mentally and physically.

pick up the phone and tell everyone , but the father is to be told first.

call and arrange your first visit with an OBGYN. the first appt is mainly getting info about you , the father , figuring out your due date and basic paper work .

grab some vitamines to start taking from the pharmacy . the prenatal vitamins they give you a script for may upset your belly , my OBGYN said taking 2 chewable kid vitamines instead is fine .

go to a local book store and grab what to expect when you are expecting . this is a great book for first time moms , infact i have saved my copy and reused it . also you can buy a pregnancy callendar where you can keep track of first movements , and milestones of pregnancy .

stop or plan a stop date to quit smoking and make sure as soon as you find you are pregnant stop drinking or doing any recreational drugs . make sure any thing you are taking is safe for the baby . and make sure you are putting healthy stuff in your body and keeping unsafe things out

congrats !

get prescription prenatal vitamins from ur doctor, see ur ob/gyn and get a blood pregnancy test, tell ur boyfriend or husband after the blood test comes back, drink lots of orange juice and milk, if u can hold the milk down. check with ur insurance and/or
employer about what ur coverage is for ur maternity care.

and wait a while to tell people and family, wait til u get urself together about being pregnant and foremost wait until ur partner is ok with it. in my case my boyfriend was so excited he started telln everybody he could and i wasnt comfortable with being pregnant yet, but the first couple of weeks are tender for u and the embryo. in the beginning theres a high chance of miscarriage and u would hate for that to happen and u told evryone u were!

First, if you are, stop doing any drugs or alcohol, including cigarettes.
# 2 find a doctor or midwife. (I have done both and prefer a midwife, they seem more personable)
#3 if you exercise, continue to do so in moderation (remember the rule if it hurts dont do it)
#4 relax
#5 make plans for the future- kids are cool

--schedule your first OB appointment, usually around 8-10 wks.

--buy "what to expect when you're expecting" book. it's so helpful!

--tell family, friends, etc...unless you're superstitous and want to wait until about 12 weeks.

--start taking prenatal vitamins ASAP (start taking ones from GNC, wal-mart, target..wherever, until you can ask your dr's opinion on them)

--start monitoring your nutrition....cut out bad stuff like alcohol, drugs, tobacco, caffeine....start getting lots of good stuff, like water (about 64 oz per day), fruits and veggies, and proteins from meat and/or dairy. drink plenty of milk for your bone health and baby's development! AND get some ginger ale and crackers for the morningsickness, if you have it.

that's my top 5 things and not necessarily in any order!

congrats and take care!

Celebrate!
Stop smoking, drinking alcohol, and start eating a good diet.
Go and see your doctor.
Take good care of yourself.
Enjoy the last 9 months of being able to do things when you want and not have to worry about a little baby.

Good luck!

1) call for an OB/GYN appointment IMMEDIATELY
2) tell the father
3) tell the rest of your family (or seek counseling if that could cause trouble)
4) stop drinking/smoking/drugs/anything else potentially harmful to the baby and start eating right & exercising
5) Be happy! :)
