Do you have health insurance? It will cover a lot of the cost to see a physician, physical therapist, chiropractor, and possibly alternative therapies. If you do not have health insurance, do you qualify for Medicaid? Of course, a regular fitness routine including cardio, stretching and strengthening may be all you need. But we cannot accurately judge that from the other end of the Internet. I suggest you seek help from a medical professional before you do more harm to your back than good.

I just happen to know this problem. Straightening backs I am a specialist on the subject.
Firstly you do not make it clear if your problem is a permanent curve (scoliosis) or a displacement or a spasm.
Let us assume it is the spasm .i e. as I would say your back decided enough was enough and you cant straighten. This is not a physical displacement but one of a muscle usually in the lower back, not behaving itself. You need a cold pack, and put it on the spot for 20 minutes, then after a further 20 minutes a hot pack another 20 minute rest and then cold again etc etc After each cold pack push your knuckles into the "spot" i.e. the muscle as hard as you can stand for a minute or two and try to straighten. After a few rounds with hot cold and pain! walk round and strive to straighten. It will take a few days but there are no short cuts and 100% recovery takes 7 days!
Some chap mentioned the ham strings yes that helps as well. Easiest way ..... flat on your back and if you have a willing partner gently get them to pick up your straight leg and lift it as high as possible arrr then a touch more ! same with the other leg arrrrr and the touch more. If no partner do it gently in a door way lay on the floor and put your leg up and lift onto the door frame keeping the leg straight and stretching the hamstrings.
For the permanent solution stand sideways in front of the mirror. Yes, sorry the tummy has got to go! If you have scoliosis or a displacement drop me a line. I assume no "slipped disc (displacement) because you are typing!!! Write if you need more

If you can, go to your doctor to see what he/she can do for you. I haven't gotten in to see my doctor yet and I have extreme back problems. I have had them since i was little and feel off a 3-5 ft brick wall right on my back! Had problems since. But now I crack my back when my back gets stiff and stuff. Soon I am going into see my doctor to get back work done. Then I am thinking about going to a massage therapist too. So maybe you should do the same. Try and get the problem solved by making it better.

I would suggest a chiropractor or massage therapist. If you can't afford that then find some back exercises/stretches that you can do safely. You can get books and videos at the library. Also, strengthening your abs will help in stabilizing your back.

A majority of people have problems with their back due to short Hamstrings!! (The hamstrings attach to you pelvis, when they are tight they will tilt your pelvis backwards). Try stretching your Hamstrings, but not the old way by touching your toes, definitely a no no.

I dont know the cost but a chiropractor would be your best bet.
A chiropractor sorted out my brother's slipped vertebrae ( total of 7 ). It did not cost him much as I recall
