I was laid off from my job of two months about 2 weeks ago. They presented me with a separtion letter , that I sign and then faxed in because I was in another state at the time. Now two weeks rolls around and I was not compensated for severence pay that was promised to me in the separation agreement. I called to inform them that i signed the separation agreement, and they said i didn't date the agreement, therefore i didnt get paid. Is there anything that I can do to get what's promised to me? someone I need your help!

I would report your situation to the Department of Labor. When you faxed the document, did you get a fax confirmation? On the confirmation, it states the date the document was sent and it also shows your fax letter and the content of what was being faxed. If you have it, I would show the Department of Labor as evidence. Good luck. I hope everything works out.

If it was promised to you in writing and you faxed it back, you should still have the origional form. Take it to the Department of Labor and file a grievance.

If you live in the US...call your state's Labor Board. They went to bat for me when I was getting screwed. Companies usually respond pronto due to the large fines and penalies that the board can impose on them. Good Luck! Don't let them screw you!
