FIFA certainly thinks he was correct in his decisions during that match, or they wouldn't assign him to such an important game. So do I. In fact, I think it was one of the best refereeing performances in the World Cup. Many difficult calls, and all of them were perfect.

In my opinion, I think the US supporter should stop complaining about that game. Watch the re-plays. De Rossi? Elbow to the nose, seemingly on purpose. Mastroeni? Studs-up tackle from behind. Pope? Dangerous tackle from behind. All three players made contact with the player before hitting the ball. I completely agree that this was one the the better games that ardent fans (usually those who have no idea how to play the game) are protesting.

If you want failure talk to Ivanov from the Netherlands-Portugal Game. Talk to Poll who can't count three yellow cards, but don't start complaining about the ref that oversaw the best USA result.

I think it'll be alright if this guy becomes the official for the semifinal. It looks kinda wired when I say this but I'll tell you why. On that very day, the referee booked De Rossi, Pablo Mastroeni and Pope. Yeah, three red cards. I watched that game...I thought it was crazy. However, the next day, FIFA actually gave both Mastroeni and De Rossi match bans. De Rossi was actually supposed to get suspension from playin five games but they finally gave four because De Rossi sent a letter to FIFA apologizing for the tackle he made against McBride.

Also, if you watched the game between The Netherlands and Portugal, you probably, wouldn't mind this guy being the referee. There were 20 bookings. 4 reds and 16 yellows! The only people from Portugal who played and didn't get booked were Ronaldo, Meira, Miguel and Pauleta. What do u think about that? The referee for that game was from Russia and his decisions are under inspection. In comparison, I probably think that the Uruguayan referee was a whole lot better. Anyway these were the two games with the highest no. of red cards.

I'm not really sure about his action on Pablo Mastroeni since he gave a red straight away. Anyway, FIFA watches those videos again, again and again. They're the professionals and if they think that the decisions are good, there's nothin much to say.

I supported the US that day and my favorite is Argentina. They're out. Now it's just another world cup for me...haha. Well we may have the new cup champs if Portugal wins. Other than that, good luck on the team you support.
