Democrates are one of the political parties within the American government and the term Americans refers to all people leagaly residing in the United States of America.

Or did you mean what is the difference between Democrates and Republicans? But then you would have to distinquish between the historical difference and the current differences.

Currently I believe the general difference is that Democrates believe that people are better of with a large government supplying as much as possible for the needs of all. Where Republicans believe that a smaller government would run more efficiently and with less corruption. But these are large generalizations.
