First of all humanity coming from Adam and Eve is not necessarily a lie, you may find it highly unlikely, but there is not sufficient evidence to say it is a lie. Secondly, "the church" did not write the Pentateuch or any of the Old Testament for that matter. It was written by the Jews before the church was ever established. The church is the bride of Christ, all Christians throughout all history, but before Christ came there were no Christians therefore no church, just Old Testament saints, who were equally saved by faith in a COMING messiah as we are saved by faith in the messiah who HAS COME. Thirdly, there have been several terrible instances in which the so called church has lied, misled, or otherwise taken advantage of people, but that does not mean that you can discredit all believers throughout all history. Martin Luther thought that the Catholic church was misleading people by making them pay for repentance which is why he started what would later be known as the protestant reformation. The better question is why people under the guise of Christianity or any other religion or moral cause lie to people, and that is a question with as many answers as there are people in history. Some have lied for financial gain, some for pride, some for power, but it can mostly be boiled down to selfish ambition.

coming from adam and eve is probably the smallest lie in the bible. its not really lieing though. Is Steven Kings TOMMYKNOCKERS a lie? no, its just fiction, like the bible. The bible is an old boof to give a guideline of values to people that are too lazy or stupid to figure out for themselves. goodness, sharing, love are not exclusive to bible thumpers. Its just that bible thumpers wouldn't know how to give, share, or be kind without it. They fear hell and desire heaven and must obey the rules to get there. religion anso kills lots of people and scams money from ignorant people. people live in wooden trailers and pray in a church of marble and gold. WHY? The church lies because they want money without contributing to society(working a real job) they lie to keep the masses in line. They lie so they can have sex with young girls(mormons) lots of reasons. dont believe the lies and think for yourself

"We come from Adam and Eve" isn't a lie if you don't take it literally. Apart from that, religion lies because it's organized and all organizations respond to personal/group interests and lie. Anyway, religion per se (I mean religion, not spirituality) is all a matter of faith. So, can you call faith a lie? Maybe a deception... A lie is something different.

What church are you talking about? And I don't know about Adam, but science shows all humans on this planet have one common female ancestor, who lived in Africa thousands of years ago.

dont be mad at churches. most people in the churches are good people...along time ago i read that israelites were gods chosen people, the meaning of isralite was 'seeker of truth'. we use churches as a vehicle to get to our own personal truth. they do as good as they can in explaining creation and supporting their religion, having to use the bible as their source of information. some people cant find their personal answers in churches and they turn to science to find it. what ever floats your boat. most of us need an explaination as to 'how did we get here', 'why are we here'. some are satisfied with not having to have a belief system. beliefs are personal. few people agree 100% w/each other on what they believe. the churches try, somethimes they fall short.

It's more folklore than lies. I mean, we had to come from somewhere?? We also say Columbus discovered America in 1492, which is also a load of horse manure. So...believe what you want to believe and let the rest go.

Religious deception is considered acceptable in getting us to the Gates of Heaven.

If you sat down and totted up the incidents of confusion, deception and downright misinformation in the Bible, your head would explode.

Because it's tired?

I didn't know a church could lie. I didn't know a church could talk.

How did you know my parents' names?
