I lived in a rent stabalized apt.that i could afford as a single mom. He moved us out with the promise to take care of us. My son suffers from seizures and now i find myself scared to be homeless. Now he wants to throw us out in the street because he says it is his apt.
He is also very verbally abusive and he is communicating with his ex. he tells me i have no rights and i need to get out.

In the famous word of Rick James....Cold Blooded! Gurl get out of that marriage. You can get legal aid to help you. You do have rights. He's a non supportive spouse, verbally abusive and sounds like infidelity. Keep your head up and move on.

Once you leave he can make you stay out. If you do not leave he cannot make you leave. Seek immediate legal advise and the help of welfare. He is a jerk (worse) and deserves nothing. Be very careful that his verbal abuse does not turn to physical abuse.
Since you are married and you have a child I believe you have the right to stay in the home and he has to leave.

First of all I don't know what state you live in but you should go to your local social services office and apply for benefits. Also, your son may be eligible for social security due to his disability. Third, I would cancel your internet to save on some money. I would get out know....your child dosen't need to be around someone who is verbally abusive. There is help out there....you just need to ask for it. Best of luck.

I also live in New York State. First of all, you do have rights, as long as you're willing to give them to yourself. First check the lease on the apartment you're in now. If it is in your name, you are responsible for who lives there and who doesn't. If it is in his name, contact your local department of social services as quickly as possible. They can once again help you find a rent stabalized apartment and get you set up for living on your own again. Next, most all divorce attorney's offer a free consultation. Take them up on it. Also find out if they will act on your behalf pro-bono, as all attorneys are required to do a certain number of pro-bono (free) cases per year. If they can't take you pro-bono, ask for a court appointed attorney when you go to family court to file for your divorce. The sooner you protect yourself, the better.

call social services or section 8 housing

if he is abusive, go to a womans shelter. they know the routes to get you out of your current situation.

next time, be more careful about moving into someone else's domain. at least make sure you can take care of yourself and your son. he wants you to get out. ask him if he is going to help you find another place. or if he is going to help you to get out.

then i would go to a shelter and stay until i found something for myself. its hard and good luck, but a shelter is better than being abused and being scared all the time.

You need to go see an attorney. You do have rights, assuming you are legally married. He cannot throw you out or force you to leave. If you cannot afford an attorney, you can contact the United Way, or other charitable organizations, they often can refer you to an attorney who will handle your case without charge.
