I'LL TELL YOU WHY! If you thought this out you might have saved yourself the embarrasment of my answer. We have a Christmas Eve so we can celebrate the night that "Santa Claus" comes, rather than the next day when he has or hasn't already. And we have a New Years Eve because we go from one night- example December 31st 2005, to the new year 2006. The eve is always the "before" celebration and everything else is just the after party... there, see that wasn't that hard

Well I think the reson is that those are the major holidays.because christmas was the birth of crist and new yearrs is a start of the new year.
