Have you ever watched the price of gas. Have you seen that ever time their is a Holiday the price of gas goes UP not just a little but 30 to 40 cents then it takes it 5 or 6 weeks to drop 20 cents. Like NOW the 4th of July in Indiana where i live gas jumped 30 to 40 cents overnight Just because of the 4th. And its all about BIG OIL GREED. Do you think that congress should do something about this I do but they won't because to much money is being payed to them. If you know what i mean.

Sorry to offend anyone out there, but, as long as Bush is president, oil prices will soar--why? because his family and friends are all "Big Oil" from Texas. They stay rich, we suffer.

You are an Idiot and have no idea of what you are talking about. The oil companies buy the oil at the prices set by the commodities market. Next, 65 to 75 cents of every dollar you spend on gas goes to Fed, State and local governments in taxes. The oil companies get 7 to 9 cents of that dollar. The rest goes to the station owner ( 3-5 cents) and in the cost of refining, transporting and all the other costs of getting the gasoline to you.

So MR. Knowitall, if you want to screw someone, then screw the government that takes up to 75 cents of every dollar you spend on gas and doesn't do a damn thing to provide it to you.

This is very obvious . The problem is our government has interests in oil company's . Through personal as well as governmental investments . When they are making money hand over fist . Why would they change it ? If they had morals they would never make it to the political arena . OPEC has no controll over domestic oil . why do we pay the same price ? If the govenment has no intrest in Big Oil why did Georgey Boy give them a tax break ..

Congress has little to no effect on oil prices because oil prices are set by OPEC. The only thing Congress has the ability to do to affect oil pricesis to decrease/increase the tax, open the reserves (always a bad idea) and to give the President a blank check to declare war on the Middle East. That's skyrocketed our oil prices without much OPEC intervention.

I wonder why he did it... ...oh yeah: http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=HAL&t=2y

Yes I have seen the prices every time I fill my tank. Our economy works on supply and demand. China is sucking oil by the billions of gallons. We used to be the major sucking machine, but we now have competition. High demand, limited supply. It's vitally important for us to explore additional resources and alternative solutions.
