Kill the mosquitoes, bring back the use of DDT. It was never proven that DDT was killing birds, but it was very effective at killing mosquitoes. Mosquitoes are the deadliest insects around, causing diseases that kill millions each year. With less use of pesticides, more mosquitoes. More death. Mosquitoes kill more people than AIDS.

Malaria is not strictly an African problem, though it is endemic to the continent. It used to be a big problem in Washington, D.C. - the capital of the United States - which was built on drained swampland.
There are immunization shots you can get to help prevent infection. Wearing mosquito repellent any time of day, any time of year when mosquitos are out will also help.
Sleeping with mosquito netting over you in areas that have mosquitos will also help keep the pests off of you. Keeping them off you all day makes little difference if you allow them to feast on you all night.
Once you have been infected, there are tests you can get to determine if you have the disease and a course of treatments to attack the disease. That helps prevent other people from getting infected too.
To really make a difference at preventing the disease we have to wipe out mosquitos. They spread the disease. Without them, it would not be such a problem.
There are certain things that can be done in the environment that can make it harder for mosquitos to breed.
Environmentalists can put something in the water in swampy areas - places where their are large bodies of stagnant water.
You can help by not having stagnant water on your property. Do not leave trash can lids upside down in your yard. That allows them to fill up with rain water, which stays there long enough for mosquitos to lay their eggs and hatch the larvae.
You can make sure that any bird baths or fountains have working pumps. Otherwise, you are just providing an ideal breeding pool for mosquitos.
Malaria is a serious condition and it hits a person hard. It takes a lot of time and medication for them to make a recovery.
It is good to be aware of this disease. Be aware also that it is not an African disease: it is a human disease.

Prevention of Malaria: Drugs to prevent malaria, called antimalarials, are available only by prescription through a health care provider. Your health care provider will prescribe your child's antimalarial based on the travel itinerary and medical history. Some antimalarial drugs are more effective in some parts of the world than others. In addition, a medical condition may prevent your child from taking certain drugs. Alternative drugs are available and are discussed below

Please understand that it is not "Maleria" but "Malaria". If you are living in Africa and needed treatment, please consult a doctor in your locality. I am very far from Africa and would not be able to help. In case you are visiting Africa, you can not enter the country without taking Yellow Fever Vaccination. It is mandatory for outsider when travelling to African countries to have Yellow Fever Vaccination prior to their leaving their country.
