Thank god! Theres not enough of us that agree on this! I asked a similar question based on Ronaldo (grrrrr scumbag) and got 'sore loser' oh 'English wah wah wah' and so on. Clearly we are not that we just want others to recognize that actions of cheating players such as the slime ball in question.
I was very angry and annoyed to see our men being treated in such a second hand manner. The ref was clearly biased and denied us from gaining a few well deserved free kicks and indeed a penalty which could have altered the whole outlook on the game. Then to top this off Rooney was being tackled from both sides, accidentally stands on a player, which isn't seen by the ref, then argues with Ronaldo(who runs to the ref like some stupid child) and due to the shove is sent off! This could have been given no more than a red card.
It had been Ronaldo's intention all along to get Rooney sent off; from the headbutt at the beginning, to the pursuing of the ref and the wink and smirk that said ' Well done men, he's off'. He is an arrogant scumbag who believes he is the greatest after 'that' penalty.
I hope he gets brought down under Rooney's wrath. He deserves all he gets, and he will never be accepted back at Man U. He is English Public Enemy Number 1! And I hope it stays that way until he gets a one way flight out of our country and back to his own cheating diving country.
I hope Rooney will retaliate, justice will not be done until this has happened.
Remove Ronaldo
Hate Ronaldo
Bye, Bye Cheating Scum Ronaldo

I am a girl but I have interesting opinions about football too!!!
However I missed the start of the match....(thereby probably proving you right that only boys should answer...but I was working)
I was interested to read your question as I hadn't realised what happened to Rooney before the incident when the ref gave him the red card. So thank you for this information, now I have the whole story.
If this is true it shows that Ronaldo is no gentleman - and the way he behaved is "Just not cricket" !!! It was at best naughty and at worse extremely unfair.
I can guess how Rooney must have felt, but its a shame he couldn't resist these tantalising tactics. The bigger goal should have been the success of his team.
It would be entertaining viewing if they kept up this spat....I am afraid that Ronaldo has the edge on Rooney in being able to keep cool, and I'm not sure that Rooney will ever be any good at subtlety....but maybe that is a positive thing for his personality!
I hope Rooney gets the last laugh....

Ferguson will clamp down hard on any attempt by Rooney or anyone else to get revenge. Something tells me Rooney will not attempt it anyway; others within the team might be tempted but won't. Some players from other teams may also be tempted; I hope they show restraint.
The fans are another matter. Those (e.g. some newspapers) who are goading the fans about this will regret doing that.
Rooney should have kept his cool. Maybe he will learn from this; if so he will become an invincible player. The fact that Ronaldo was being an @rse is not the point.

Well, I think what Rooney did was totally on professional, and pushing Ronaldo was just unsportman like. I though he has got his temper under control but i think its still rearing its ugly head if u ask me. I dont think Ronaldo had anything in his red carding, so no retaliation from NOBODY NOT EVEN ROONEY.
For the winking it could be true, just a friendly wink, ofcourse Ronaldo wants to win (this not a premiership match they are on the opposite sides now). Too Bad England lost, its sad that with Lampard , Gerrad, Navile (thats means superior midfiled ) they could not get good balls u to Rooney to Score.

Rooney is an over rated child. He should have stayed home. There are better strikers back in England. He can not think ahead and he can not control his temper. I think Ronaldo is a spoiled brat and typifies the latin ballet dancing, which is giving soccer a bad name. Start giving more red cards for these play acting displays. If I were Ronaldo I would be looking for a job on the continent. The England coach can take his one striker plan with him when he leaves!

Cristiano did nothing wrong. I think you should check your facts first. 1) How do you even know what Ronaldo said to Rooney before the match?? So I guess you were there right?
2)How do you know that Ronaldo was GOADING the guy? Watch the replay. Ronaldo was just talking to the ref when Rooney started to push him around.
The English fans should just stop and look at your teams performance before blaming everything on Ronaldo. Was the English reallly doing that good when Rooney was in it? I dont think so. So stop blaming Cristiano. He did nothing wrong. Was he the guy who stepped on Carvalho? Was Cristiano the guy who started pushing another player around? I dont think so. Rooney deserves his red card. And the better team won anyways.

Knowing that both Rooney & Ronaldo play for the same English club Man United......Ronaldo will get the REAL push from Rooney when he joins them in the tournament!!! I won't be surprised if Rooney gives him the REAL push & injures Ronaldo seriously while playing a club game considering that they play as strikers for the club...And guess what.... the ref won't even book him coz u can't book a person for injuring his own team mate....maybe at that time we would see Rooney winking to his team-mates & having the last laugh......hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!

Much as I hate to say this..but this sort of player baiting is part of the game now. Maybe we should wise up on it, maybe not. If we had gone on to win the world cup by getting other players sent off, who would complain (apart from the other countries obviously).
I personally think that Rooney, knowing this was going to happen, should have tried to ignore everything and let the Portugese get frustrated in their efforts. However, the good guy doesn't always win (eg Thierry Henry vs Barcelona)
As for Ronaldo at Man Utd - SAF will tell them to sort it out or HE will move one of them on.

Yeah, England weren't good enough which is why they had to be sabotaged by a cheat. Yes, unfortunately Ronaldo is a cheat in my opinion. Grow up and play football and if you're scared of Rooney, try and outplay him. Ronaldo's time will come, and he'll be shown up for the pretender he is.
