I really don't know - that is far too existential a question for me - however, thought I would share this little string-related gem:
After my boyfriend's Great Aunt died, and they were clearing her house, in the attic was found a box, neatly tied up with string, with a lable on the top that stated something along the lines of "short pieces of string for which I can find no use" - I love it! She sounds like she was quite the batty old biddy.
Good luck in your very silly string quest!

A Piece of string.. there is a simple formula to work out the length,
First fold the string in half, and then measure that distance.
Take that number and times it by 2.

String, string, won’t you buy some string today?
I have four colors!
Red, green, blue, and grey.
White? Is that white, you say?
Sorry, I have no white this day.
Perhaps I could make that up to you,
And for the price of one, I’ll give you two.
No?
Well, I’m sorry that I have no white.
But, if you come back another day,
I might!, yes, I might!
Well, goodbye sir, yes, I’ll see you another day.
But be sure to drop in, to get your white,
If you happen to pass my way.
Its about 20 feet long I say!

ahhhhhh the how long theory i love it
it is a mathematical legerdemain ,there is a neat trick that makes super srting theory both possible and plausable,i suggest that the propsed fusion of general relativity becomes much more likley if we abandon our usual concept of a 4 dimentional universe(three spatial dimensions and one time dimentions) for one with ten space dimentional on time dimentional,) try picture that on your laptop screens
As a RollsRoyce salemans in london said when asked how fast does the latest model go,he raplyed fast enough sir fast enough
So in conclusion the piece of string is LONG ENOUGH to meet the theoretical demands of any person and the much smaller intellectual demands of this Q.or at least long enough to tie your hands behind your back so you dont ask another daft Q. like this
