Uniform, is something that everyone must wear, took look the same, so no one is bullied for looking different or made to feel different in any way e.c.t, if one person un-tucked their shirt, they might think they look cool, if other kids start to do it, the ones that dont do it, will get picked on e.c.t, I do understand that many schools are not forcing school kids to wear a tie if they are wearing a jumper in hot weather.

Personally I think this should be the choice of the child and/or parent. If the child is more comfortable with the shirt tucked in then fine, if not, let him/her wear it out. I can understand schools having a dress code, but dictating something like this is a bit excessive.

I don't think schools do enough to recognise the dangers of hot weather. A classroom can be a really hot and stifling place to be and kids run around like crazy in break times whatever the weather - it's the schools job to teach them to safely respond to changes in weather - not to be pedantic about tucking shirts in as they develop heat stroke!

I live in Florida, and with a lot school uniforms here the shirt is a knit of a "square tail" or "banded bottom" type, deisgned to look neat worn outside the waistband. Think of golf shirts. But if the shirt is a "round tail" or is quite long, it should be tucked in.

Remember, school is not a social event or an opportunity to express yourself, it is your job. Part of work is dressing the way your "employer" tells you to. That said, there are appropriate ways to urge your "employer" to make changes to policy, including dress code.

The reason, as I have had it explained to me, for having your shirt tucked in is two-fold: 1. for discipline and 2. to assure the school that they are not carrying weapons.

Where I went to school we had a summer uniform which was lightweight and cooler. Why has this tradition gone? Girls wearing lightweight dresses and boys wearing shorts. Why don't they bring this back in a more modern way?

It is nice to have them looking smart but if they are too hot to concentrate there is n ot alot of point in them being there.

Why should it matter???

Do tucked in shirts make kids smarter???

They should be allowed to wear cool clothing in hot weather...

no. pointless discipline, if you ask me. they don't discipline them where it really matters - i.e. in health and fitness and in mental discipline, they just focus on the naked exercise of arbitrary power.
