Why are you working today? Is it going to be productive at all?

Generally speaking, July 3rd is not a paid holiday in the USA. Many companies have taken away a "personal day" and made this the mandatory personal day, but not mine.
Why the hell should I burn valuable vacation time when I can enjoy it here, my "interoffice vacation day" with free and fast internet, clean toilets, no nagging relatives and all the snack food I can snag from the food y'all left in the fridge!?!?!?

I'm working today, then off tomorrow, then back on the 5th. We only get the one day as a paid holiday and we've got so much going on work-wise that it wasn't in my best interest to ask off today. Besides, all the "big-wigs" are here today. Guess that means I'll have to be productive :(

I am a nurse. I will work both July 3 and 4.
People are sick 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Hospitals never close.

I am working today. I run a daycare center. There will be a few less kids here today, but we are up and running. Off tomorrow for the Holiday and then back on Wednesday.
