It is time to take the vote AWAY from the fans. Ford Frick, former commish, did this in 1958 after fans in Cincinnati stuffed the boxes with pre-printed ballots and chose 7 Reds out of 8 starters ( couldn't keep 1B Stan Musial from winning). Players and coaches picked the team from 1958-1969 and got it right more often than not.
Players do see who is more deserving and not just pick popular players. A guy like Minnesota's C Joe Mauer is a prime example. How can you not start the All-Star game when you're hitting over .385? It's a shame that fans just pick every player from their favrite team and don't take the time to truly pick an All-Star team. It's such a popularity contest.
Red Sox/Yankees vs. Mets is not a game I want to see. Although I predict HUGE numbers on the east coast. You can count on me turning the TV off next Monday night, World Series home-field advantage or not.
Fair, not when you have people voting over 200 times, no it's not...

Fair who knows but as long as MLB is going to have this silly rule that the All Star winner gets homefield in the World Series then the fans shouldnt have the power to make the team. The league and coach of the All Star team should. There are too many times when players get voted in just because they used to be good or they play in a big market and keep more deserving players out.

Realistically though, the fan voting only accounts for 18 players. Yes, they are the starters (plus the final man vote), but it used to be an exhibition game specifically for the fans in the first place, so why not let them pick 28% of the roster (16 starters +2 final vote winners on two 32 man rosters)? Players and managers do get a say in the rest of the All Star representatives.

I think the fans should only get the top 3 vote getters in each league. The players should pick the rest of the team

No in a way it is not fair, because the best players do not always get to go.
But yes it is fair because it is an all-star game and it is for the fans, so they are able to have a say on who they want to see playing in the game

No, because some of the players who get voted in by the fans get in because there popular with the fans and not because of their stats which should be the reason they get voted onto the team.

i'm undecided yet could wager that this is via fact she did no longer extremely qualify for the Daytona 500 yet, extremely, have been given in on driving force or automobile proprietor factors. that's what the super project is for Tony Stewart with the sprint Cup races she is working this year. the guy driving her automobile for each and all of the sprint races she would not run has to maintain ending severe adequate to get her into her races while not having to qualify on velocity. She hasn't been waiting to try this in the process hardy any sprint Cup races so some distance. perhaps none of them. do no longer provide up on her working the All celebrity Race yet. If she desires to run interior the race, NASCAR will discover a thank you to make it ensue, despite in the event that they could desire to alter the policies to do it.

It's a fan-based game. The All-Stars are the players the fans want to see.

Because it would make it feel like we had not impact of who went in, which would make it even more boring to watch.
Why would we want to watch something that we have nothing to do with.
Like If you are a phillies fan, why would you want to watch the Devil Rays play the Royals, you have nothing to do with either of the teams. Im guessing thats how MLB Management feels.
