1 word, RESPECT! If you respect someone, you will automatically treat them well. Tell them they look nice. Complement them on the way they read, carry themselves or speak. Don't over do it! Just let them know how much their friendship means to you and if there is anything you can do for them, they have but to ask. See if that doesn't butter their bread!

A small kiss on the cheeks.
Send flowers, greeting card, or their favourite pickle etc.
Remember their birthday, Anniversary & greet them.
If you know they have some problem, suggest a remedy without waiting for them to come asking( Like electrician-plumber etc required).
Small gestures go a long way.

When they do/say something nice, funny, smart, etc. say "That's why I like you so much, most people would have... " you came right out said you liked them but you kept it casual just the same.

send some flowers or you can show it by being attentive to them, show that you care and you're interested in their work, hobby.. some compliments will help too
