Are they somehow immune from accidents just because they're not actually racing?

it's because during qualifying they are not in a rush compared to actual race itself. plus they have to work additional stuffs to the cars while it is in the garage that helmets would just be an additional hassle

They don't wear helmets because in qualifying speeds on the pitlane are reduced, like in practice, to 80 km/h. And in qualifying the only major events that occur in the pitlane are cars going into the garage or coming out, or in Q3, pilots coming in for fresh tires on which they can make a final dash for the best possible spot on the grid.

I can't help but interject the middle of your question. You responded unintelligently to my question about masonry. Please read my question again and edit your response. If you don't know what Christianity is really about then I don't expect you to answer it in a fitting manner. But, if you are truly a Christian, pray before you edit and think about what you are saying. Christians sole purpose is to glorify God through worshiping Jesus! It is my contention through studying masonry that it is purely satanic. You can't see it on the surface because it is disguised. It SEEMS to be all about making people good and respectable and many other positive descriptive words. But what can be said of an organization that doesn't care to mention Jesus but still says you must believe in a Deity. If the Deity isn't Jesus, particularly Jesus and only Jesus, it is simply the devil no matter how you slice it. No one can get to God the Father except through Jesus, that includes our prayers. That's why we pray in Jesus' name. And yes I am a Jesus freak!

the helmets are too small for them during practice when the Adrenalin rush comes on during the race the brain shrinks by 4mm and the helmets fit then

Pit crew withou helmets don't have to work for pit stop.
