not the alcohol we drink...the alcohol put in the alcohol lamps......

Ethanol is usually the alcohol used....which incidentally, is also the type of alcohol present in alcoholic beverages, except in lamps, it is usually denatured to keep people from drinking it.

Usualy its a denatured ethanol alcohol, which is simply adding some things to the alcohol to make it (more) poison.

They can certainly use other alcohols though.. Isopropanal, *rubbing alcoholol*

probably could even use the deadly poison that could be absorbed through your skin, methanol. *Suprisingly windshield washer solvent uses this, luckily when its sprayed on the windshield the methanol evaporates VERY quickly leaving just water on there.
