Cotton is lovely and cool initially ,but in humid weather any sweat just soaks into it and doesn't evaporate quickly. The best and most comfortable would probably be cotton/polyester mix. it has the comfort of cotton but doesn't hold onto the moisture for as long .

Silk is wonderful and breatheable. Raw silk works great in dresses and pants without clinging. Cotton, linen are great too as is rami. All natural materials that help you keep cool.

Cotton is the most breathable and comfortable. If you don't believe it, wear silk underwear for a day, then try cotton underwear. You will get hotter wearing the silk underwear than you will the cotton. Most OB/GYNs will recommend cotton underwear. Silk, rayon, etc. can cause yeast infections in women who wear it too often because it is not breathable.
