Officially speaking, the world will end when our sun expends most of its nuclear fuel a few billion years from now, causing it to expand hundreds of times in volume, thereby turning the earth into an ashy ember.
But what you probably mean is how will humankind end, which will likely be from a cometary impact or other global cataclysm of that nature.

The day of Ragnarok will bring the giants of Jotenheim to wage final war against Asgard and Midgard. At that time, the gods, humanity, and cute cuddly animals will be destroyed. As least that's one possible scenario. :-)
"The world" can have several meanings, ranging from humanity's presence to the planet earth to the universe itself. Regarding the planet, incinerated by an expanding sun going nova is the likely path. With the universe, I don't think that it will actually end, but it might not be inhabitable due to built-up entropy. Assuming mankind survives the former, it will probably be done in by the latter.

The world will end after the rapture and 7 years after the 'agreement' between Israel and the Antichrist... It will end in a war between God and Satan , Good and Evil... But God will establish His new Kingdom... Read 'The Left Behind Series' - although it is Fiction, it is BASED on the Bible - espesially the prophesies and the last Book of the Bible - Revelation... The signs are already starting to show - prophesies made more than 2000 years ago are coming true...

You are probably asking about the end of mankind, not the end of a giant rock eternally falling through the cosmos. If we don't blow ourselves up first, we will die from all of our resources being poisoned and/or used by our own selfishness and greed. If you want to find parallels in the book of Revelations, feel free but know that it was written by a man in a Roman run prison and his 'visions' were the result of hallucinogens (he mentions wormwood, the main ingredient in absinthe). If this is something that concerns you, use less fossil fuel, make less waste and get politically active so that COAL is not the energy source of the future.

In 10 Billion years the sun will exhaust it's hydrogen and rapidly swell absorbing the Earth in its path. This will be the end of the world.

By God...but he will rebuild it forming the promised new heaven and new earth...the earth it self will not start "being destroyed" until Jesus comes back for his people. then the antichrist will rule for 7 years begining the destruction of all nonchristians but mabe not jews since they are still Gods chosen people... just read the book of Revelation in the Bible.

in the Bible St. Peter says by fire, so the sun is probably going to "swallow" the earth, turning into ashes.
or the sun's energy will exhaust and without heat, the world will cease to exist
