Yes right keep blaming the others for the lack of self control... A real professional player can never do what Rooney did, period!
And what is up with the trying to flame Beckam? Can't the coach and his staff take their share in the responsibilities (after all they didn't make the team force a goal earlier, so they clearly wanted the penalties to happen)?

I think FIFA have to look long and hard at their Refs -

3 Hand Balls overlooked
3 Yellow cards given to 1 player!
and 2 x more yellows and reds given so far than in any other World Cup!

They have already sent 2 ref's home for their poor performance on the pitch - Lets have a little more observation and decision making!

If the ref had yellowed Rooney after the stamping incident (which is all it deserved) then Ronaldo would not have had to atagonise the ref the way he did!

And to the guy who reckons that Rooney is a pie eating psycho = Get off the Press Gang Wagon and realize the potential of one the future greats of this game!
There is nothing wrong with Rooney - He is young and it's his first major world tournament.
If you were head butted and taunted for the whole of 100 minutes by some cocky arrogant player like Ronaldo then you would be p8ssed too!
P.s - Look at the possession ratio of Rooney/Ronaldo for Man Utd - Ronaldo cannot stand Rooney because he overshadows him every match!

Gondo Mar - este homem é do norte!!!

Ronaldo was not out of order - he simply did what any other player would have done in his position. And the wink? Come on, had it been the other way around and I`m sure Rooney would have done the same!! face it people, Rooney lost it!! He shouldn´t have stepped on the other player- that was really dirty. And, Cristiano Ronaldo may be a jackass but he is a good player - better than Rooney, that`s for sure!
The English press is also to blame. By saying bad things about the Portuguese team you gave Scolari tools to work the players minds with!!
So, guys, face it: Portugal was much better than England and we won fare and square. So, grow up and accept defeat as the gentlemen you say you are ( cause we, the portuguese, are the ones who have no sportmanship, right??)

Gondo Mar - Finally the voice of reason! As for blaming Ronaldo for Rooneys temper tantrums - enough already. He did what any other player in his position would have done, whether they're portugese, english, german or whatever. As for the wink - so what? Had Ronaldo been sent off during the game, you wanna tell me that none of you lot would have cheered at that? And no England player would have shown any signs of pleasure that the other team is now one man short? Whatever! Rooney is the only one who did wrong here, and he would have been out with or without Ronaldo.

Rooney was out of order for stamping on a fellow player and for raising his hands to an opponent. The little boy needs to grow up. Ronaldo was not doing anything wrong.

What Ronaldo did was unsportsmanlike. It was action designed to get Rooney a red card. We don't know if it influenced the referee, I think it probably didn't, but it was also intended to goad Rooney into a reaction to make it more likely that he would be punished.
This type of behaviour is widespread in football and its up to the authorities, the players and the fans to decide if they want to get rid of it or not.

Can't say Ronaldo has done himself any favors! He provoked Rooney before the match had started, and did not show any good sportmanship during and after the game with his other team mate Nevile. Lets face it he is very arrocant anyway. Loves himself to much and not the game, thinks his Gods gift to women. When he only looks like a Portuguese Fisherman. He won't be on my Christmas List and for all those people who say leave him alone his a good footballer I agree he is a good footballer but just a knob of a person.

Ronaldo was out of order, but Rooney was way out of line.

a. watch the replay and you will see the ref gave a red card for Rooney Looney stepping on the guys balls NOT for pushing Ronaldo
b. the wink: taken out of context....hello...maybe he was winking to say the guy on the floor was ok?
d. would love to have seen the england players reaction if a portuguese player did that to one of you lot
e. players DO NOT sway a refs decision
f. england...do yourselves a favour and stop blaming everyone. you really all suffer from island syndrome and contribute to it by alienating urselves in this ridiculous manner. forget about 1966, forget about going into every tournament being nationlistic egotistical pigs thinking you will win everytime, forget about it being a "war and revenge"...get over yourselves first then you may just win a game or tournament.

bet Beckham's gutted he wasted all that cash on his World Cup party!

The idea of sport is that the best competitor wins. Football ceased to be a sport years ago. The result is decided by the match officials.

Lets forget about the ball. We should have a competition where the team members take it in turn to throw themselves into the penalty box and get marks for artistic impression and technical merit.
