Yes - provided the dish is not absorbent.

Fill with water - get a magnifying glass - when the sun is shining concentrate the rays through the magnifier onto the water.
It may take some time, but the water will eventually heat to boiling point - Boom Boom - boiling water in a paper plate !

No problem at all, if you have access to a microwave oven. You can also do it with gentle heat sources that won't heat the paper to its combustion temperature. Paper starts burning around 451 degrees F, water boils at 212 degrees F at sea-level.

You can also use a heat source that is hotter, because the water will keep a thin paper plate below 212 degrees as it boils. (The heat is carried away by the steam.) As soon as any part of the paper plate is not in contact with water, that part will burn.

If you did it in a microwave and the dish was water resistant on the inside, yes.

The boiling point of water is below the kindling point of paper, if you could keep the paper from breaking down into the water you could manage.

But it's sort of dangerous to boil water in flimsy containers.

One way is to put a paper cup in a microwave.

The other way is to put a paper cup in a chamber with pressure lowered below 0.1 bar of absolute pressure. At that pressure water wapor pressure is much higher than the environmental pressure, so very intesive boiling will occur.

Yes.. and the paper will not burn. Paper must reach 451 Fahrenheit before it will burn, but water is in contact with the paper, and water will not go above 212 Fahrenheit.. so the paper will not burn and the water in the paper cup will boil.

You can boil water in a paper cup.

Ensure that the paper cup is well soaked. Fill it with water and place it in the embers of a fire.

It goes with cooking fish/chicken wrapped in newspaper in embers.

You can also boil water in styrofoam. We did it in camp on a charcol grill, The foam will melt to the waterline and then stop. Make sure you have something under the styrofoam to keep the metal from melting through, otherwise you will kill your fire.

yes

you could probably do it under normal conditions, but you could definitely do it by lowering the pressure, this will lower the temperature that the water boils at, Hell you could just do it in a microwave that would work too,
