Born: 1341 B.C.
Birthplace: Egypt
Died: c. 1323 B.C.
Best Known As: Ancient Egyptian ruler and famous 20th-century mummy

Three things they found when his body was exhumed:
1. Tut's tomb was filled with furniture and other beautiful objects, and the golden death mask which covered his mummy is now a famous relic of the ancient world.

2. His age at death was estimated at 19 years, based on physical developments that set upper and lower limits to his age.

3. Tutankhamun died of a swift attack of gangrene after breaking his leg.

Egyptian ritual/burial

In Ancient Egyptian burial rituals, mummies were buried with their earthly riches, pets, and sometimes even their slaves, as the Egyptians believed those were necessary to guide and serve the deceased in the afterlife and make it more comfortable.

Ancient Egyptians devoted their entire life to afterlife. However there was no concept of heaven or hell, instead one either existed among the indestructibles (immortality) or one ceased to exist. The Egyptians believed that there were six important aspects that made up a human being. The lack of any one of these would mean one would cease to exist hence a mummified body lasts forever. The six aspects are:

The Physical Body
The Shadow
Name
Ka (spirit)
Ba (personality)
The Akh (immortality)
Each one of these elements played an important role in the well-being of an individual. Each was necessary to achieve rebirth into the afterlife.

With the exception of the Akh (immortality), all these elements join a person at birth.

See the second site for a more detailed explanation. Good luck on your paper!

If you're in high school, Wikipedia should be fine for a source. If you're in college, I would look for more reputable sources
