Apart from Brazil's victory in 1958 in Sweden, they and Argentina always fail to fulfill their potential.

The so called pundits were predicting an Argentina v Brazil final, but they both went out in the QF's.

I guess a lot to do with crowd support. Statistically,

Home country wins 35% of the time
Home country reaches finals 47% of the time
Home country reaches last 4 67% of the time
Home continent wins 89% of the time.

both significant South American communities (Argentina and Brazil) have had some significant wobbles at present. yet you won't be able to in any respect guess hostile to communities like that. Spain are searching very useful on the minute. i imagine they could pass each of how. And for once in a significant experience, I actually have slightly faith that England may genuinely get someplace with Capello in fee.

i think it's a home ground thing. the same would apply to euro teams playing outside of europe... they are unlikelier to win as well. I'm not saying that it's impossible... Brazil in Sweden 1958 proved that it is indeed possible. But the odds stack up disproportionately.

World has 18 teams (8 teams from North and South Americans) 5 teams in Africa, 4 teams in Asia, and one team in Oceania.

Because of the terrible refereeing and the biased bastards that are on Germany's side. I agree with you, it is so dissapointing to see a team like portugal get through and not see Argentina get through, who are in a different class.
