Chicago native, Kathy Griffin, is a multi-faceted performer who is probably best known for her four-year stint on the NBC sitcom “Suddenly Susan” as Vickie Groener, Brooke Shields’ acerbic colleague.

After moving west and joining the famed Los Angeles Groundlings comedy improvisational troupe, Kathy Griffin began building her resume with guest starring roles on such series as “Mad About You,” “ER,” and also appeared as the recurring character Sally Weaver, on “Seinfeld.”

After her various TV guest spots, Kathy began gaining notice as a stand-up comedian and landed her own “HBO Half Hour Comedy Special.” In 1998, HBO gave Griffin her own One-Hour Special, “A Hot Cup of Talk.”

Griffin has supplied voices for characters on the animated series “Dilbert” and “The Simpsons,” and she appeared in a dual role on the “X-Files” as well as in Eminem’s video, “The Real Slim Shady”, co-directed by Dr. Dre.

Kathy co-hosted The Billboard Music Awards three years in a row; appeared on numerous talk shows including “Late Night with David Letterman,” and “Live with Regis and Kelly” and has been featured in the films “It’s Pat,” “Four Rooms,” “Muppets From Space,” and in the animated feature, “Lion of Oz” among others.

Kathy has a great passion for reality TV. She participated in and won “Celebrity Mole” on ABC, hosted the NBC reality series “Average Joe” and hosted the MTV series, “Kathy’s So-Called Reality”.

Kathy’s stand up comedy special called “The D-List” has just finished its run on Bravo and she just recently taped another special for Bravo at the Orpheum Theatre on March 19th titled, “Kathy Griffin Is Not Nicole Kidman.” In addition, Kathy released her hilarious comedy stand-up on DVD, “Allegedly,” which is in stores now and she is currently in production on her new reality show, “Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D-List,” that will air on Bravo in late 2005.

Kathy Griffin is an American comedian who is doing all these stand ups I think. Wherever there is an event, she is there apparently. She is pretty funny some of the time.

Kathleen "Kathy" Griffin (born November 4, 1961) is an American stand-up comedian whose career took off in the early 1990s. She is also an actress, a voice actor, a red carpet commentator, and a self-proclaimed D-list celebrity.

* She has a cameo in Pulp Fiction, in which she played an on-the-scene witness when Butch intentionally used the car he was driving to hit Marsellus Wallace. Quentin Tarantino, the film's director, dated Griffin in the early 1990s.[2]
* One of her most notable controversies occurred when she made a joke during a 2005 E! televised event that 11-year-old actress Dakota Fanning entered rehab.[1]
* Though having undergone some plastic surgery, Griffin is a vocal opponent of excessive plastic surgery and the use of botox.
* She is an outspoken opponent of LASIK eye surgery, having endured a traumatic series of operations for her own eyesight, which has left her partially blind in one eye with a visible eyeball deformity. She discusses this on her website.
* Griffin is a favorite of the late night radio call-in show Loveline, once hosted by Adam Carolla.
* She has played in the World Poker Tour for the Face to Face: National Domestic Violence Project charity.
* Griffin, Jim Gaffigan, Debra Wilson, and Michael Ian Black have starred together in several commercials for Sierra Mist soda.
* She appeared as a panelist on the June 22, 2006 episode of CBS' "Gameshow Marathon," which recreated the Match Game.
* An episode of the animated TV series Family Guy, "A Picture is Worth a 1,000 Bucks", includes a cutaway scene where Peter Griffin's cousin Kathy Griffin talks so much that he puts Rohypnol in her drink to shut her up, but accidentally gives his son her glass.
* Griffin claims to be banned from appearing on The Tonight Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and The View. She says Ellen's producers told her they can't have her on "trashing celebrities."[3]
* Griffin also claims her presence (and eventual victory) on Celebrity Mole: Hawaii as the moment she became a D-list celebrity (referencing how Celebrity Mole and other popular reality shows tended to use celebrities that were once popular in previous decades and aren't as prominent today, or "underground" celebrities that are somewhat popular today but whose popularity pales to major milti-millionaire celebs). This joke can be heard on her Kathy Griffin: The D-List special.
* Jerry Seinfeld was so amused by Griffin's caustic comments about him in her standup act, that he cast her on Seinfeld as a standup comic who makes fun of him. [4] A letter from Seinfeld is also seen framed in Griffin's house on the series finale of The Adam Carolla Project.
