Question for those who have read the book 'A Town Like Alice' by Neville Shute?

i have read some of the story and have found it takes awhile to start and was wondering if it gets better and whether it end happily cause if it doesn't i wont bother....... PLEASE TELL ASAP.....

Wow, you'r going back a long time. I have 'The Complete Works' of Neville Shute and everyone is worth reading to the end. He is a master storyteller particularly 'A Town Like Alice'

its an excellent book and does end very happily

the initial part about the women's treatment under the japanese doesn't last long and then the scene shifts to australia

stick with it :)
