Well, you're in a difficult position, and yeah, it's pretty normal.

Life is difficult on a McDonald's payscale. No wonder you're in poverty. Perhaps, if you really passionately hate school, you could consider learning a trade (like plumbing, or electrician) instead of school. But school opens a lot of doors, and if you can find a way to be ok with it, that's probably a better path.

Perhaps you should just get your feet wet by taking a single class at the community college, and see how it goes, and if it's not as bad as you thought, then go back full time. I mean, no one really loves school all the time, but maybe you'll get to take some interesting classes.

In the end, though, you're gonna have a hard time making ends meet on a McDonald's payscale, especially if you ever want to have a family, or plan for retirement, or anything else. Basically, its an ok job for a kid, but now you have to decide if you want to have a life past the next 5 years. Do you want a future?

It seems normal, but if you're seeking advice, I would suggest getting out of the mcdonalds business. The suggestions of getting a degree are good ones, and I agree that it is most important that you like what you do rather than just getting a degree for the sake of having one and making money. So if you are into astronomy, get a degree in Astronomy or Astrophysics from a respectable college.
And trust me, being in college for 4 years is a rite of passage, and an experience in itself that is not to be missed.. even better than high school for some people. So get yourself educated... it opens a lot of doors and people take you more seriously in life.

well at least your working currently, but if your worried bout money for tuition there are plenty of scholarships out there plus financial aid will help out alot as well...consider it cause in this day and age you need more than a high school diploma to get anywhere besides living paycheck to paycheck
