My boyfriend walk up this morning with two swallen eyes. It is probably has somthing to do with the work he was doing yesterday in the bathroom. He removed the linoleum and installed tile. There was a lot of dust. It was also a very hot humid day, so maybe sweat got into his eyes. Any ideas what could cause this and whether it is sever? It is still very early in the morning around here so I cannot call his doctor yet.

Thank you

Removal of linoleum, vinyl flooring, should not have created "a lot of dust". This is usually just scraped from the floor.
Was the original material more than 25-30 years old? If so it may have had an asbestos backing.
Whether or not it did, if the floor was sanded, that would create dust. A no no.
It may be just dust and I don't want to alarm you. A one time contact, even if it was asbestos, will not put his life in danger. It takes prolonged exposure to do that. It may be only dust. He should have worn goggles if sanding took place. I'm not a doctor, but I would suggest eye drops to flush his eyes. If it persists contact an eye doc.
This is why professionals should do some jobs. Their wages may be far less than the cost of doctors.
I spent 32 years in floorcovering and have seen customers land in the hospital after saving 40-50 dollars on labor.
