I am getting a bit sick of the touchy feely state we live in. I know people who have been on the dole for years simply because they can't be arsed to work.

Not only does this cost the honest tax payers a lot of money, but it also creates a 'victim' of the person receiving dole. I accept though that there are honest people out there looking for work - and they will find it. From personal experience I got dole quickly, but to have my rent paid I would have had to have waited for months to actually be able to support myself to get back to work.

Now, it seems to me that people who work and want to work should be entitled to a generous payout from the state - but for a limited period. Those who don't want to work and can't realistically prove that they are actively looking for work should be cut off.

Let the state take care of those who actively participate than the few who ruin it for the majority.

I think people in middlesbrough should be paid directly in Pork Pies, fags. cheap lager and a few wraps of crack...this would save them the effort of having to tear themselves away from Grand theft Auto to put their kappa tracksuit on and push the bastard twins buggy down to Morrisons.

There is an easy way to get people off the dole. Make them work for it. Quite a few countries do this. People on the dole are required to do community work like picking up litter, removing graffiti etc.

The dole was meant to stop people suffering hardship it now affords them a way of not having to work!

As the dole is to assist those out of work it makes sense to either help them keep the work ethic or train them back into it.

If this system was used in the UK they would soon realise that they could earn more money in an actual job and enjoy better conditions etc.

I have never been a believer in the government welfare system, I have never seen a government social net program that did not increase government power and the amount of dependent loafers. An honest person will do what they have to in order to survive, they will pull through the hard times and they will be stronger for it. Given half the chance a lazy person will become a lazier rationalizing abuser who thinks they are owed a easier living and there has always been enough sympathetic private charities around to serve this lot what it deserves.

And yes there are handicapped, injured and abused people that do truly deserve our help and I am all for helping them but putting that job into the hands of any government is only asking for all to be eventually enslaved and abused.

Unemployment is at its lowest for years and the types of work on offer have changed over the last few decades. Gone are the manual jobs to be replaced with IT and office work. Many poeple claiming the dole are not skilled for this type of work. They need to be retrained. As for the student moaning that she has car taxetc to pay. Do your bit for the environment and walk. Do you really need a car as you have not got to travel to uni or work.

there are people, such as myself, trying to claim Job Seekers Allowance for genuine reasons. i've just left sixth form, i don't want to go to uni, but i cant get a full time job, therefore i have no form of income, so i need it at the moment, i certainly am not planning on living off it. £90 every two weeks doesn't go very far when you've got a car needing petrol mot's, tax and insurance, as well as having to feed myself, clothe myself and general personal hygene. not everyone is out to scam tax payers money, so please do not generalise the JSA to lazy scammers

in Wales its different after you been reciving dole for so many weeks they send you on corses if you do not attened them they stop ur money and trust me those corses aint very nice ones. when there over they make you go to another place for 2- 4 hours a week and look on the job center web site threw the papers. you also have to apply for one job a week to prove that you are looking for work. they make it very difficult not to get back into work.
i think that ppl that you should only be allowed to get job seeker allowence for so long theres pleanty of jobs out there if you wanna work

replace cash payments with vouchers based on purchasing day to day nessecities.make them usable only by recipetent,on production of id.this would stop a lot of scroungers buying fags and booze and would help ensure the kids get fed and clothed properly and make dole less attractive to certain types.

also more support for those who want to work but find themselves stuggeling or worse off.been both sides of this fence

the dole is here because of free trade

if the UK Gov blocked all the junk that comes in from China and these places, people who didnt work could be forced to coz there would be no excuse.

i know a guy who is FIFTH GENERATION on the dole, his gregregregreatpa in newcaslte went on it in refusal to work when they shut down his coalmine in favor of cheaper american imports.

freetrade has its price.

some people genuinely need it but making people do things such as clearing litter might stop some people taking advantage.
