hi!
assembled pc is a good option if you are aware of the various parts of a computer and their cost. but if you have a little knowledge about them then it is best to buy a branded pc because the companies will always provide you with new and better parts. also a company provides better services for all problems that can occur in a pc.

I would say assembled is better than branded to some extend. Because for branded machines incase of brakedown of any part it is usually hard to get a replacement especially now that technology is growing day after day and thus end up buying a part that is not of thesame brand. This will sometimes be giving you errors, I have an example: I have a compaq machine and the fan broke down and I looked for the original but I couldnt find so I had to buy another type and at the end of it all whenever I boot the machine it gives me that error anf I have to press F1 to continue.

The best PC is the one you build yourself!
You pick out all the parts, at the price that YOU want to pay:

With assembled computers you have the option of choosing the configuration. You can invest more on components which will be more useful to you.

With Branded PCs you have no such options and end up paying more for the same configuration. They claim better quality and performance, which are definitely attainable with assembled PCs.

But do a background check on the reputation of the firm or person who is going to put it all together for you.
Reputed firms always bank on repeat customers rather than instant profit.

Well it would all depend what you want to use a PC for.. if its just surfing the web (occassional user) just settle for any good basic config laptop from one of the leading brands like Dell.
If you are into gaming and would require a high end PC you would be better off getting it assembled as then you can have a choice of hardware to put and bascially you can customise it more.

Hope this helps.

TigerDirect has a line of assembled-to-order PC's called SysteMax. You get more performance for the dollar than national brands, plus you can specify upgrades such as video cards for 2-4 monitors or extra memory. Also you can pick from a huge selection of peripherals (cameras, flash-card readers, printers of all types, big flat-screens, projecters,,,) and get everything at once...!! I get all my stuff from them.
