Under what enumerated power?

Congress can only pass federal laws where it has constitutional authority to do so. The majority of such authority comes from the enumerated powers list in Article I Section 8, plus a few other authorization clauses in later amendments.

So, what enumerated power do you suggest that would allow Congress to pass any laws related to marriage?

It's certainly not their power to coin money, regulate banks, prevent counterfeiting. It's not powers to declare war, punish piracy, support and regulate military.

Somehow I don't see marriage as a directly commercial activity, so the Commerce Clause doesn't help. Neither does the it really seem like something the Postal Service would control.

So, what enumerated power do you suggest that would allow Congress to pass any laws at all related to marriage?

With all the REAL problems going on in this country, I really don't want to see Congress waste time on a bill like this. But they will... Nero continues to fiddle while Rome burns.

Here, here Sean. Do we really want to be paying our Congress to decide if it should be legal to marry our pigs? That is probably one of the craziest questions that I think i've ever heard.

That's just wrong. Two men who want to get married is one thing. They are both sentient human beings. Marrying a goat is a completely different thing altogether! What is wrong with you that you would think they are similar?
