Simple answer. We had Sven as manager and his ridiculous 4-5-1 formation, and we had a bunch of underperforming prima donnas wearing England shirts. I think the most disgusting thing about the whole thing is the fact that someone like Lampard reckons he's not respected enough. Hmm...you get eighty grand a week Frank (or whatever it is) and were pathetic during the whole world cup.

England has a strong soccer team they have proved to reach into the quaterfinals. Shoot out has expelled them from the competion, it is a lose but not that much. Do you know the English players decency in the ground, you should estimate the team by lose and win you judge through performance.

I think England hasn't performed well in this and past WC because it produces too many "yob" (Tony Blair word) players. They need too produce more Gary Lineker types: classy, sophisticated, worldly, intelligent players. As much as I admire Rooney's god given talent, what he did in the Portugal match was something I'd expect a soccer hooligan to do and appreciate.
England should look to the Dutch model.

How could England lose?
They were quite good but not in penalty shootouts. Ricardo was also a good goalkeeper for the Portuguese.

I think england has the mental problem in facing penalty shoot out. I suggest england to practise more their mentality in penalty than the tactics. They are a pretty good team currently.

England has good players.. But i just dont see the team work. thats why they lose. Rooney has a super bad..... u know. Thats why porturgal use Ronadol to trick him.... Red card... 1 player down.
