Personally I prefer, and enjoy, a mix of both. Some days I want something that's nothing more than a 'popcorn flick', or summer blockbuster, where you go, sit down, and shut off your brain to be entertained by big explosions or crude jokes. There are also movies where I'm incredibly glad they're made and they don't have any of those elements of pure entertainment. At its heart, moviemaking is about telling a story. What that story is, how it's told, and how the filmmaker goes about telling it is what gives us such diversity in film. I appreciate that there are some movies that succeed at nothing more than entertainment, because sometimes that's what I want to see. Other times, I want more out of my movies, and I love the independent "industry" for churning out some great films as well.

Hollywood should make two kinds of movies, the kind for entertainment purposes only for all the dumb people, and complex films for people that need more than just mindless dribble.

i think movies should give us entertainment but still we need to acquire values, change people behavior and post new ideas into people minds..
movies have a community responsibility, but still no one can deny the need to make profit out of movies.. but profit is not the only goal..

I believe you show your inexperience of the world in this question. Movies are NEVER made without some political agenda in mind, e.g. read up about the end of the Soviet/Communist bloc and then watch Disney's The Lion King.
