From what I understand the new start up bands who rely heavily on the start up money for future projects and promotion. We've all heard some band that we thought was great and really thought they should take off and then fizzle into obscurity sometimes there is other reasons drugs, corrupt management etc. but the bottom line is musicians need a paycheck too. Otherwise they gotta take some crappy job and bang out covers for drunken ingrates in some bar somewhere.

Record companies and music sttores are the only ones who will lose out. Artist will be the winners. What was once a technical process in a recording studio can now be done on a PC. Forward thinking artists will start to produce their own music and sell them via websites and associate themselves with programs like itunes.

anyone and everyone in the music biz.....but mainly the underground bands.

i say the underground bands because, they are the smallest, arent big in selling tons of cds in the first place....and they are more likely to get a burnt copy from ur friend or download illegally because, ppl either a.) assume it doesnt matter because theyre not so well known (when it matters most in that case) or b.)they dont want to spend their own money when its such a small thing and they feel it wont be worth it (but underground bands are the best)

The musicians that don't play as many concerts. The artists now make most of their money on the shirts, jackets, etc. sold, and the concert tickets. If your band that doesn't play many live concerts, the money flow won't be as strong.

the record companies take the biggest hit. the musician makes very little on the album itself and makes the vast majority of their money by touring and marketing t-shirts and other merchandise.
