People can mouth off all they want about what they would and wouldn't do, and most of the time, the reality is that they do the very opposite of what they thought they would have done. Armchair heroes becomes cowards on the battle fields, and moralisers become corrupt when the gold flows their way, so who knows? People who hate old people are probably the ones once they are old, who will be out there demanding the money from the taxes go to the senior cruise funds rather than the inner city schools... ha!

Personally, I love the hell out of old folks and kids, both forthcoming and hilarious, honest, people with lots of stories. Valuable lot, both of them. I don't think I will have the opportunity of old age. Not everyone does. Luck of the draw. Old folks aren't a burden. Us in the middle, hung up on lame unimportant garbage, we're the burden.

This is a tricky one. Because as a nice person with some elderly relatives I should say yes I love old folks, bless them... but the real answer is....old people unsettle me and I don't like them. That makes me feel guilty, because I know it will happen to me.

I do feel there should be much more respect for age and wisdom in every society - most of us will be old some day, and all of us will die.

But the true answer is no, I don't like most old people (though what age are you describing as old.....it could be anyone over 30!)

By old I mean say 70s and above....and you do see some lovley old people, who look happy and wholesome and smile benignly, I think this happens when they ACCEPT aging - I hope that I will be able to do this.

But most old people smell....and have thick yellow toenails....they are grumpy and intolerant of others or just very feeble. I find physical infirmity very irritating and want to scream if I get stuck in a narrow supermarket aisle behind someone very very slow.....especially if they have a zimmer frame. Now I am being honest. What a b.i.t.c.h.! What goes around...comes around!

I have told my sons to arrange a mercy killing if I get beyond a certain age.....but the age changes as I get older!

Currently I am planning a face lift for my fiftieth and a huge party when I am sixty..........

Honestly? No I don't like old people. I am a nurse and although I willingly spend time caring for the elderly-family included-they make me feel unsettled. Growing old terrifies me. At the age of 30, if I have no children, I will put my affairs in order and move on. I know some may find this surprising but it is something which I feel strongly about. I just can't face growing old. Growing up was hard enough.

Some old people are brilliant, some are wankers. In some ways I'm looking forward to being old, because I'll be able to openly brandish an offensive weapon (my walking stick) and I'll be able to whack little kids around the head with it. Other people will see me doing this and instead of thinking about calling the police they'll just think "Oh well, it's his age..."

If u kill urself before u turn old, u miss out on all the good stuff of growing old- having people do everything for u :) Besides, the only reason I dont want to grow up is that I'll die eventually, and I'm not going to kill myself before my time is up.

Steve if it wasn't for the old people, us younger people would't be here today. I work at a nursing home, and i thank God every day for who they are. Someday you will be old, and lets see how the younger generation thinks about us.

their houses are too big, their medicine cabinet is too small,
they smell of wee.
if they sink their teeth into a steak sandwich...they stay there.
