Because if we make it, there will be a lot of folks lining up to visit Uranus.

Because it's there. Because we can. Because we're explorers. Because it's much easier than setting up a base on the moon. Because we'll learn more by going there than by going to the moon. Because it's the easiest place to reach that might have life in some form, and if we find that and study it, we'll learn a huge amount about life.
We did the telescope with Hubble, and the results were very impressive indeed.
Nearly anything we could do on the moon could be done better on an orbiting space station, easier and cheaper.
Are there any metals or other materials on the moon that aren't much more readily available on earth?
We really don't have much reason to inhabit any body outside of earth other than to learn about it.
Policing space requires military means.

It would be cool to go to Mars, but the Moon would be cool too. And the Moon is only 3 days away, while it takes many months to get to Mars. I believe the lure of Mars is that we have never been there before, the presence of water, a chance of finding some kind of life, and the left over romance from the days when it was believed to have vegetation, breathable air and maybe canals built by intelligent inhabitants.

There is no way man could inhabit mars bcos mars is a terrible place to live...a war like planet. Even the moon you have mentioned is a world of being. God, the creator, has made these worlds with different vibratory rates that suit different type of bodies. man may not survive in the moon bcos of the harsh weather on our body but another being with crooked skin could survive in it. But we can visit & explore these worlds for economic reasons if we like just as u said.

Mars seems slightly more hospitable than the moon... a little less radiation damage, a little more chance of access to water and oxygen.. closer to natural gravity.. and potentially terraformable, perhaps.
Still, given that I don't even like to go camping, I can't imagine going to Mars. It would make a trip to Antarctica seem like a visit to your summer beach house.
But bottom line is we have BEEN to a 'moon' but not to another 'planet' and Mars is friendlier than Venus. So, on a PR basis, Mars is the place to shoot for.

becoz Nasa want to study its history. Do you know that in its acient time, Mars used to have water flowing there? Yes it is. Photos taken on July 5, 1997 gave the evidents that flood had occurs there based on the planet's surface. Which might means there're some kind of living things there long time ago.

The moon is vulnerable to meteorite impacts, as we can see from it's scarred surface. A thin atmosphere like the one surrounding Mars, provides a measure of protection from incoming meteorites.

to get to mars we need a base on the moon first and that is the plan the reason for going to mars is it's the closest thing to earth we can reach once we prove to ourselves we can go back and forth we will expand out into deeper space.

Because Mars is much less hostile than Venus or Mercury, and it's not a gas giant like Saturn or Jupiter.
It's like Bruddah Israel Kamakawiwo'ole said, "You don't know what you got here, until you go far away."

Hopefully by the time we are able to get their we would have advanced so much in our technology that we would be able to build "huge" atmosphere plants that..... *obviously* would pump atmosphere around the planet (oxygen and such) so that is may be able to sustain life.
