Ayn Rand is very wordy. If you're interested in her philosophy, you might prefer starting with one of her nonfiction works, such as "The Virtue of Selfishness." If you don't mind wordy, "Atlas Shrugged" is considered her masterpiece.

1. Preferably fiction first.
2. The Fountain Head - first in the fiction list
3. Anthem - though short and sweet will give an insight preferable after fountain head
3. Atlas Shrugged and that is the end of the list for it is so enthralling that you keep re-reading.
4. If you are interested in a more subjective analysis of her philosophy - you can proceed with We the living and other philosophy books.

I started with Atlas Shrugged...it's a great book! Don't be put off by its size, it's an engaging read. The Fountainhead is almost as good & you'll recognize the theme if you've read Atlas...
Enjoy!

Atlas Shrugged is the most well known. Quite large book but reads quickly. I'm not one of her biggest fans but I did enjoy this book.

To start, go for "The Anthem". It's short, not wordy, and the plot is straightforward and very catchy and philosophical at the same time.

You should read Altlas shurruged or the fountainhead. They both are really good books and are fun and easy to read.

Read WE THE LIVING. I read that book when I was about sixteen and it completely "popped my reality." I had no idea that people thought that way or lived their lives that way.
