The gaming industry is one of the most successful, most well marketed industries out there. Imagine this:
Teenagers are out of school for the summer. Some have jobs. Some slack off. They're bored. Tired. Want a release when they come home. How do they do it? VIDEO GAMES!
Videogames are mastered easily. Therefore, you need to keep a constant, fresh supply for said bored teenagers (And adults), therefore, the gaming industry rapidly designs, thinks up, and puts out brand new games, to keep everyone interested. To keep them buying more and more. To keep making their pockets swell. :D

Supply and Demand, as long as people will play and buy new games, manufactures will keep inventing new games.
