"why does america not legalize marijuana..."
Because they're in too deep to back out now. The War on Drugs has cost American tax payers billions of dollars and much of America believes the tripe they have paid for. Pushing for legalization is political death and politicians want to keep their jobs as much as anybody else.

"in my opinion i think getting high is safer that drinking, does anyone feel the same way or is everyone just against mariuana."
I am not against weed. I like weed. Weed is my friend. Why? Because I don't just write it off as safe. Weed is not safe. There are negative side effects. Don't just point at the statistics of alcohol versus weed related deaths. Actually learn what it does to you.

"i dont support being drunk driving or being high driving but if i were to choose i would much rather have someone be high driving..."
I've been in the car with a stoned person at the wheel. I swear, I will walk until my feet bleed before getting into a car with a stoned driver again.

" why the **** dont we legalize the ****"
Another reason why weed isn't legal is because the legalization movement in many parts of the world comes across like you are right now: stoned and bored and in their room cursing "the man" for ruining their good time. If you want it legalized that badly turn off the Floyd, get yourself together and go to law school. You are hurting legalization efforts more than helping them right now.

I think that there has always been some sort of stigma against pot in this country for some reason, and I also believe that certain lobbies in the government are extremely against legalisation because it would cut into their business. Also I think the state that marijuana puts you in is something governments don't want people to experience for some reason.

Because there is no definate way to tell if someone is under the influence of Marijuana. You cant pull someone over and do a smokalizer test.. There is no way to prove it thats why it will never be legal.

The only problem is that you can raise marihuana even in your bedroom....

You can't grow beer from a plant just like that.

There is no way for the government to really get a profit from marihuana.

There would be less consuption of alcohol and cigarettes.

Because we haven't figured out a way to tax it. But the $ that could be saved from constantly fighting it and the tax revinue that could be earned it unbelieveable. In my state alone last year it beat out cherries as a cash crop from all the plants that were taken in raids. I think our leaders have some serious reconsidering to do.

Because you have individuals like answerer #1 over there going "OMG OMG OMG totally with you bro". Because the world has enough slowed up morons without adding to their legions. Because weed leads to heavier substances, no doubt about it. Because it damages your short term memory and makes you mistake 50 Cent for having musical talent. Because it makes Emo kids write poetry. Because it makes you live up to your ankles in Cheeto packets and snickers wrappers. Because apartment blocks have enough issues without become big green smoking towers.

There millions of reasons why it should remain illegal. The only reason it shouldn't be is that cops have enough on their plates without having to respond to your neighbours phonecall and drive over to bust your as5.

Let me ask this question. What huge benefit is there to marijuana that we should legalize it?

The problem is that there isn't any reason to legalize it. Arguably there might not be any huge reason to keep it illegal, but there definitely isn't any advantage to legalizing it.

The "key" words to your "key" question are as follows: "Flat out..." as in your ambitions when you smoke. "Flat broke..." as when your unemployed posterior runs out of the necessary cash to support your guanga habit, and "flat personality..." as when you're under the influence of the stuff. But I do agree that it should be legal... it just should not be accepted socially as something "enlightened" people do... sadly, the drug is usually for "dead-enders." (SNORE)
