and since I have had my kneecap come out of place in the past that is the first thing I assumed..but it looked fine visually, but the pain was agonizing, and swelling occured about less then a minute afterwards.and right now (2 hours later) the pain is still pretty moderate and I cant walk on my leg(im using crutches to move around now) Well basically I am asking if I should consider the ER or maybe schedule an appointment to see a doctor and get an x-ray to see if anything is fractured or out of place? also I cannot lift my left leg at all unless I use my hand or my other leg to lift it.

The immediate swelling, the inability to lift your leg independently, the agonizing pain are all signs to see your physician. Call your primary care physician and see if you can walk-in to see him/her. In the meantime, Rest (relative rest - it means no excessive use of that body part), Ice (15 minutes every hour), Compression (ace bandage wrapped around the knee), and Elevation (above the heart level while icing)!

From your description, it sounds like you have subluxation of the patella (partial dislocation of the kneecap). After the kneecap dislocates the first time, it can weaken the fibers that normally keep it within the groove of the knee joint. Because of this, it can partially slip out of place causing the knee to buckle. The best physician to deal with this problem is a doctor who specializes in sports medicine (family physician or internist) or an orthopedist. My son had his kneecap come out of place during a soccer game, and he had to be put in a knee brace for a while. I'd ice it and take ibuprofen for pain/inflammation until I could see a dr.

Take 5 tbsp sesame oil. If not available in kitchen even groundnut oil, mustard oil will do. Add half pod of garlic after removing each bud and skin, 3 tsp turmeric powder, 3 tsp ginger powder and heat on low fire such that oil should not boil but slight vapour can come. 30 minutes or so till garlic becomes golden brown or maroon color. Let cool and strain. apply massage on knee. No pressure just light massage for 10 minutes, twice a day. within 3 days swelling will come down and pain will be out in 5 days.
No pain killers please.
Even if there is microfracture it will heal if you take 2 tabs after lunch and dinner of Laxadi Guggulu. Manufacturere: Baidynath, HImalaya healthcare or Dabur from India. That will be available online.
