To a point, yes. You can't be arrested in this country for calling the president a jerk like you can in other parts of the world. However, for safety, some limits have to be enforced (yelling fire in a crowded theater or bomb in an airport for example).

I would imagine you're going to get a lot of different kinds of answers to this question. That is evidence that we do have freedom of speech.
However, the purpose of free speech in the Constitution is to allow people to criticize their government and discuss the issues of the day. In that context, the current administration pays lip service to free speech, but uses subtle and overt methods to minimize or degrade criticism of the government.
Freedom of the Press is in the Constitution for the same reason. It's supposed to be a watchdog for the people against corruption, dishonesty or laziness in government. At present, the mainstream press is doing next to nothing to live up to their obligation.
As Ice-T said: Freedom of Speech, just watch what you say.
Peace.

Yes, in postage-stamp sized "Free Speech Zones".
I'm old enough to remember a time when you could protest anywhere about anything so long as you didn't block traffic or beat anyone up...guess those days are long over. Long live the police state.

Yes and no! At least right now. But it is being monitored by telephone and by Internet! I don't need him to read my emails or listen to my conversations!
Have you noticed how many liberal websites have been taken down??

I believe that we do.
We may choose not to excercise that freedom based on fears of retribution or peer pressure, but we have that freedom.

If we can burn our country's flag, and endorse bigotry and racism, i would say so.
Although G.W. seems to be trying to take away certain freedoms of speech. (i.e. everyone that got kicked out of his public rallies for wearing anti-Bush t-shirts)

Sure we do. As long as you do not say anything about being a Christian, or say something that a Democrate disagrees with then sure.
