You know when you draw three lines that intersect at one point so it looks like a circle with six thingys. What's that called? or like two lines that intersect at one point so it's like a cross... but it's not called a cross? And what if you go from lines intersecting at one point to 'V' shapes so you have- I want to call them chevrons in a circle-- what's the shape called?

The parts of the circle separated by the lines (chords) are called sectors.

the first thing you describe does sound like an ansterisk "*" (shift+8)
The second thing sounds like either a "plus sign" + or an "X" x.
Chevrons are those things on a citgo gas station. They look like flat 'v's.

Other than that, that's a good way to confuse someone.
